How do you turn Winter Blues into Winter Happiness?

MissLadyAngel asked:

I love the Spring and Summer. Once Fall hits, I get a little more sad because Summer feels so far away, it gets darker at night earlier, and the temperatures drop.

Burr, it’s so freezing in the mornings and at night once the sun goes down. When it’s cold it gets hard to be motivated to do activities, such as going out for a walk or exercising.

Any suggestions on how
to get rid of Winter :(
and make it Winter :)

You have a few options, though I think it can be tough to do anything in the winter. You probably have Seasonal Affective Disorder which is really just a BS name for hating life when its dark all the time. You need to force yourself to get a lot of exercise, this helps a ton believe me. You can get one of those happy lights. I never got one but I heard they work wonders. If you drink, stop. This is the big one for me at least. I have found that going out for hikes and other outdoor activities helps a lot. Basically I stop treating winter like winter and do the same stuff I do in the summer just at night. That means like barbecues and bike rides and all that good stuff. Also look into taking some supplements like Omega 3s and vitamin B and D. If it gets really bad you can consider taking some antidepressants. Winter sucks, but you can fight through it.

    Good luck.
